BARCELONA, Spain–(BUSINESS WIRE/AETOSWire)– During MWC23 in Barcelona, Huawei and leading Saudi Arabian telecom operator Zain KSA signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement (MoU) for the joint innovation project “5.5G City”. The MoU was signed during MWC23, which took place from February 27th to March 2nd in Barcelona.
Under the MOU, both parties will work together to drive technology innovation for the 5.5G evolution and expand scalable offerings for residential, enterprise and government customers. In addition, they will strengthen digital infrastructure and build a global 5.5G evolution pioneer network, which will be a powerful engine to achieve the national digitalization goals outlined in Saudi Vision 2030.
Zain KSA and Huawei will work together to drive technological innovation, improve user experience and develop new use cases. The collaboration includes the delivery of a seamless gigabit experience in both indoor and outdoor scenarios through large-scale deployment of MetaAAU and 5G carrier aggregation, as well as indoor digital solutions from LampSite. In addition, initiatives are being taken to improve the performance of massive MIMO networks and develop end-to-end autonomous network operation and optimization capabilities. Both parties will also work together to develop new use cases for the Internet of Things (IoT) and private network solutions. Finally, the partnership will explore innovative collaborations in areas such as ultra-compact sites and green energy solutions, among others.
