This was relatively easy to predict based on recent history, but to ensure Magenta didn’t go with tradition of the last few years, a customer took to Twitter to ask a very direct and clear question on the subject. It seems etched in stone that T-Mo’s “MLB.TV offering” will be back “this year,” though it’s generally wise to take confirmations from account managers with a pinch of salt. The timing of the return of action is also largely up in the air, although we can obviously make a few educated guesses that have a solid chance of occurring. Last year, the giveaway was officially unveiled on March 29th and to all T-Mobile customers (including Sprint and Metro by T-Mobile subscribers) between April 5th and 12th. However, the 2022 MLB season began on April 7, while the new season of professional baseball is scheduled to open on March 30, 2023.
That means a proper official announcement could be imminent and the deal could be added to T-Mobile’s Tuesday listings on March 28. For those who don’t know the details of the offer, the regular-season MLB subscription you can probably get for free this year usually costs a whopping $149.99, which includes live and on-demand access to every out-of-print regular season play, plus in-market audio, improved pitch-by-pitch tracking, and other “premium” MLB app features on your iPhone or Android phone.
