Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), India’s Energy Maharatna, has contributed Rs 100 crores to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief Fund (PM CARES Fund) on 31 March 2023. This post will reflect the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, particularly in the fight against COVID-19 and H3N2 influenza virus.

Previously, ONGC had contributed Rs. 300 crore to PM CARES Fund in April 2020 during the first wave of COVID-19 pandemic and contributed another Rs. 70 crore to this fund in FY2021-22 for maintenance of purchased medical equipment by public sector oil companies (PSEs) during the two waves of the pandemic.

As a socially responsible organization, ONGC supports government efforts to ensure the health and safety of all of its stakeholders, including communities. This post will help provide much-needed resources to increase government efforts in healthcare.

The contribution to the PM CARES Fund is part of ONGC’s ongoing efforts to support society and the nation during these trying times. The company remains committed to its core values of social responsibility, sustainability and excellence in all its activities.

Some people asked questions when people within the organization are suffering as to why such huge donations are being made. But according to management’s information and guidance, ONGC has taken several measures to ensure the safety and health of its employees and stakeholders during COVID-19. The company has implemented work-from-home and social distancing guidelines, increased disinfection and hygiene measures, and provided medical support for employees and their families.

ONGC also contributes to society at large by providing essential necessities such as food, water and medical equipment to communities in need. The company works closely with local authorities and NGOs to ensure resources reach beneficiaries in a timely and efficient manner.

The PM CARES Fund was established on March 28, 2020 by the Government of India with the primary objective to address any kind of emergency or emergency situation such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The Fund is chaired by the Prime Minister of India and includes eminent personalities from various fields.
