India vs. Australia, 1st ODI Preview: After an enthralling four-game Test series, India and Australia are gearing up for some white-ball action as the two teams face off in the first of three One-Day Internationals at Wankhede Stadium Mumbai on Friday.
Team India again emerged victorious from a Test series against Australia, winning the four rounds of Tests 2-1 after the final Test in Ahmedabad ended in a many-points draw. The Rohit Sharma-led side retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after winning the first two Tests in Nagpur and Delhi in three days.
The third Test at Indore also ended within three days – but with an Australian victory as Matthew Kuhnemann and Nathan Lyon managed to weave a web around the Indian batsmen. However, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli scored tons of goals in Ahmedabad to help the hosts score nearly 600 points and dashed Australia’s hopes of a series win.
Incidentally, Australia became the last team to beat India in any format on their own doorstep, winning three games in a row after losing the first two in an ODI series in 2019 just before the World Cup. However, India would retaliate less than a year later, winning a three-game ODI series 2-1 after losing the opening game.
