Despite much political tension between the two neighboring nations, the Pakistan Cricket Board and Afghanistan Cricket Board have joined forces to host their first-ever T20I series in history. Specifically, the three-game tournament begins on Friday, March 24th, while the final will be played on Monday, March 27th. All matches will be played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
Leading up to the historic series, Pakistani management has announced many new names on the support team. Umar Gul is seen as the interim bowling coach, while veteran coach Abdul Rehman has been appointed as the new interim head coach. In particular, skipper-designate Babar Azam will miss the series, while Shadab Khan leads the Men in Green. They also brought calm to pace duo Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf.
For Afghanistan it will be a tough challenge in the middle. They have a strong squad and some brilliant bowlers in the mix but with the form some Pakistani players are in it will prove to be a task for the Rashid Khan-led side. Meanwhile, the series can finally see the debut of Sediqullah Atal, known for his furious cricket ball hitting. On the other hand, team management has ruled out Rahmat Shah and Hazratullah Zazai and therefore it remains to be seen what combination they will go on with.
