During the tournament, the DeFi project will use its AR geolocation technology to bring a welcome surprise to the visitors of various international stadiums around the world.

The app itself is called PIXLGO and it will combine people’s love of retro games with past geolocation favorites like PokemonGo and Ingress. Users can use augmented reality (AR) through their Android or IOS device’s camera to discover arcade cabinets around the world. After finding and going to the closets, they can lock themselves in and play a handful of fun, retro-style games created by PIXL. These include Pixl-8, a Space Invaders-style shooter, Pixl Man, a side-scrolling platformer adventure, and – in honor of the World Cup – Pixl Kicks, a penalty shootout game. Alternatively, players can use a custom feature to load countless classic arcade titles like Pac Man and Street Fighter onto the cabinets in ROMS form and play the full games directly from the app, benefiting from smooth and dynamic controls. The more a player interacts with the arcade games, the more points he collects and thereby increases in level.
The app’s groundbreaking blockchain technology stands out from the crowd and means the arcade cabinets themselves are actually NFTs, giving users the option to start with a simple one or buy uniquely skinned alternatives. Closets can be upgraded over time by interacting with the different games, as well as by participating in challenges and tournaments. The higher a cabinet gets, the more valuable it is. It also opens up the option of being able to sell the cabinet itself.
PIXLGO will be fully available on both Apple and Android stores and ready to play as soon as you download it. The team also hopes that its ease and simplicity will open the door for average users to learn more about NFTs by simply getting out into the world and playing fun games in fresh and original ways.
