KARACHI (Dunya News) – President Dr. Arif Alvi said that the information technology (IT) industry is the fastest growing sector in the world and we must pay attention to it in order to improve the country.
He said so while speaking at the Sindh Governor’s home on Monday at a certificate and award distribution ceremony co-organized by the Saylani Welfare International Trust (SWIT) and the Presidential Initiative for Artificial Intelligence and Computing (PIAIC).
Certificates were distributed among the successful students who taught various courses under SWIT’s Saylani Mass IT Training (SMIT) program, while awards were given to the patrons who supported SWIT.
president dr Arif Alvi said that IT is currently the only industry that can help us achieve quick and desired results.
He said the country was going through a challenging situation and we would come out of it. Intellect can help us in the prevailing circumstances and we have that intellect in our country, he added.
He said that the head of SWIT Maulana Bashir Farooqi and the chief operating officer of PIAIC Zia Khan are his heroes who have worked tirelessly to promote IT in the country. Your efforts will definitely create a very big positive change in the country, he added.
It is worth mentioning here that the PIAIC by President Dr. Arif Alvi was established to promote education, research and business opportunities in Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT) and Cloud Native Computing.
COO PIAIC Zia Khan shared his views on the occasion and said he was very impressed by President Dr. Arif Alvi in promoting the IT industry in the country.
He said that for the past few years we have been working on the program aimed at promoting IT in the country, but never a single question is asked about misuse of funds provided to us by the public.
Zia Khan said that at the moment we are an import-based economy, but we need to turn it into an export-based one and the IT sector can help us with that.
He said that we have also introduced IT courses to empower women to help them achieve financial independence.
SWIT Director Maulana Bashir Farooqi called on all philanthropists to come forward and help the charities in the difficult situation the country is going through.
He said that SWIT also trains Montessori students up to Chartered Accountant and that the Trust now needs the cooperation of the philanthropists.
He said we plan to train around a million IT professionals in the country.
