The faculty wish to appoint an inspirational Professor of Applied Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help shape our existing and new computing programs at the Faculty of Engineering, Technology and Design and to lead research and enterprise in this evolving area of ​​the University’s research portfolio. You should have experience in applying AI to real societal problems and we would strongly welcome applications from individuals with a background in AI applications;

You will have the opportunity to join a growing team of computer science and engineering educators and researchers as the new School of Engineering, Technology and Design journey begins. As a Professor of Applied Artificial Intelligence (AI), you will have the academic opportunity to make a significant contribution to the faculty’s full-time undergraduate, graduate and graduate program offerings and to take a leading and collaborative role in growing research and development activities at the school .

The computer courses have incorporated a problem-based/CDIO teaching approach into their curriculum, which aims to produce ready-to-work engineering graduates who can research, design, implement and operate integrative technology solutions for the benefit of society. In Computers and Engineering, we strive to develop data and cybersecurity learning opportunities for undergraduate, postgraduate, trainee and industry CPD short courses to support regional and national industry computer security.

  • At least 15 percent of the research has been rated as world-leading (4*) in seven of the 12 UoAs we submitted to, with four UoAs having more than 20 percent world-leading research and one more than 40 percent.
  • The percentage of our impact ranked as Global Leader (4*) has more than quadrupled since 2014.
  • 3 percent of our impact case studies were rated as world leaders (4*) or internationally excellent (3*), compared to 52 percent in 2014.
