Progressive Corporation, an insurance holding company, provides personal and commercial automobile, home and commercial real estate, general liability and other specialty property and casualty insurance and related services throughout the United States. It operates through three segments: Retail, Commercial and Real Estate. The Personal Lines segment underwrites insurance for passenger cars and recreational vehicles (RV). Products in this segment include personal auto insurance; and specialty line products, including insurance for motorcycles, ATVs, RVs, personal watercraft, snowmobiles and related products. The Commercial Lines segment provides auto-related principal liability and property insurance, and business-related general liability and property insurance for automobiles, vans, pick-up trucks and dump trucks used by small businesses; Tractors, trailers and straight trucks used primarily by regional general cargo and trucking companies and long-haul operators; dump trucks, logging trucks and garbage trucks used by earth, sand and gravel, logging and coal companies; and tow trucks and wreckers used in towing services and gas station/service station businesses; and non-fleet and airport taxi and black car services. The real estate segment underwrites homeowners insurance for homeowners, other homeowners and renters, and offers personal umbrella, primary and flood insurance.
