PROVEN Reality, a leader in virtual and augmented reality, and the Center for Advanced Simulation in Healthcare, Gulf Medical University, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance healthcare education through virtual reality solutions.
Through the collaboration and commitment of both parties, the future of health education appears to be moving to the next level of innovation. The VR Medical Education Simulation Platform, Simbios, provides students with a virtual learning environment where they can walk through their medical scenarios, test their skills with pathology and exams, and complete their diagnosis as if they were in a real-world setting. The virtual reality devices they will use will simulate the real environment without limitation.
“Creating a real-life training program for healthcare professionals requires a lot of detail and planning, and is time-consuming,” said Zaid Mashari, CEO of PROVEN Reality. “Every doctor needs their own tailored training program and there is a one-size-fits-all solution for all their needs. In signing this MOU, we are honored to begin the partnership journey with Gulf Medical University that will help transform healthcare education for the better. A virtual and dynamic training environment for future doctors will allow them to be exposed to a greater variety of clinical scenarios.”
Together with Simbio’s PROVEN Reality, Virtual Reality (VR) training software provides a realistic environment for hands-on practice and experiential learning that will revolutionize medical education. In addition, it allows teachers to design more customized training programs that meet the needs and goals of prospective medical students.
“Partnerships between technology service partners like PROVEN Reality and educational centers like Gulf Medical University’s Center for Advanced Simulation in Healthcare can help take medical education to the next level,” said Prof. Hossam Hamdy, Chancellor of Gulf Medical University. “We have decades of knowledge and practitioners on board, while technology companies like PROVEN Reality have the skills and industry knowledge to drive this partnership forward.”
In today’s healthcare environment, the purpose of education is to advance knowledge and skills in clinical practice. However, a lack of clinical practice has made it difficult for students to adapt to real-world environments when they begin practicing. Simulation has proven to be an effective teaching-learning strategy to maximize efficiency. According to recent studies, virtual reality in healthcare has the potential to bridge the gap between theory and practice, improve safety and raise educational standards.
Prof. Hossam Hamdy, Chancellor of Gulf Medical University, and Zaid Mashari, CEO of PROVEN Solutions, signed the MOU on behalf of their respective companies in the presence of Dr. Abdulghaffar Alhawi, Head of the Center for Advanced Healthcare Simulation, and Prof. Manda Venkatramana, Vice-Chancellor and Ms. Sandhya Arun, Training Manager, Simulation from the University.
