This guide shows how to customize your Android Auto Launcher to make driving more convenient and safer.
Remove apps from your Android Auto Launcher
Android Auto comes with preinstalled apps that you may not need or use.
By removing these apps from your launcher, you can clean up your screen and make your most used apps easier to access.

Open the Android Auto settings on your phone. The path may differ depending on the model and manufacturer of your phone. On Samsung phones, go to Settings > Connected devices > Android Auto. On Pixel devices, go to Settings > Connected devices > Connection settings > Android Auto. Under General, select Customize Launcher. To change the order of the apps, press and hold the handle to the left of the app icon and drag it to the desired position. This toggles the launcher’s sort mode from AZ to Custom Order.

Adding shortcuts to your Android Auto Launcher can improve the convenience and safety of your driving experience. To customize your Android Auto Launcher:

You can easily customize your Android Auto Launcher from your vehicle if you prefer. However, the customization process is slightly different than on a smartphone. To remove apps from your car’s Android Auto Launcher:
Connect your phone to your vehicle’s infotainment system with a USB cable or wirelessly. Press and hold any icon on the Android Auto Launcher screen to access the launcher customization page on your phone, or tap the customize icon on the home screen. In case you missed it, Google’s Android Auto rolled out its new design in early January, allowing users to experience new driving-enhancing features on the platform.
