RISE OF THE BEASTS The first social media reactions might surprise you

A few weeks ago we learned that Transformers: Rise of the Beasts had been described as “a bit messy” after a series of test screenings, but initial reactions are now online and tell a very different story.

The franchise has always made Paramount Pictures big bucks, but the films have never exactly been what one would call critical darlings. However, 2018’s ‘Bumblebee’ was widely viewed as a game changer, and it seems that ‘Rise of the Beasts’ could just keep things on track.

While there were some of the usual criticisms (cheesy dialogue, simplified story), we haven’t come across an entirely negative tweet yet.

Check out the early reactions below, along with a behind-the-scenes look and new footage.

The new #Transformers movie is pretty solid! I LOVE the Brooklyn setting – Maximals & Scourge bring a new twist and the action pops especially the NY scenes. Mirage steals the show, but the real star is the absolute best soundtrack full of early ’90s hip-hop hits. This 90’s kid was having fun pic.twitter.com/YV3IfFewlU

Just watched #Transformers #RiseOfTheBeasts and it’s a blast! There are many references to the Transformers universe that will delight fans. Antony Ramos is great as Noah and the team is great as always, but the real standout is Pete Davidson as Mirage. Don’t miss it on June 7th! pic.twitter.com/LBlmmOFgyb

I’m happy to say that #Transformers #RiseOfTheBeasts is one of the best parts of the series. It’s a lot of fun, CGI looks great, and there’s well-directed action that’s easy to follow. At the screening that I saw, people in the cinema were clapping and the children were laughing a lot. pic.twitter.com/pbOWRhO49D

#Transformers #RiseOfTheBeasts was a blast! The Beast Wars crew finally make an appearance in arguably the BEST Transformers movie of all time. There’s a lot of heart, humor and Brooklyn pride here; And it all makes for some retro popcorn fun. #TilAllAreOne #BrooklynBaby pic.twitter.com/GPnjs5KSOr

#Transformers #RiseOfTheBeasts makes good use of the animated film’s plot and integrates the Maximals and Terrorcons effectively. The stakes are high and Scourge is a fearsome and powerful villain. Action-packed with a lot of heart (but with a little cheese on top). pic.twitter.com/SsMNnq6ZqH

#Transformers #RiseOfTheBeasts delivers one of the better and more cohesive parts of the series. You clearly understood what worked so well on 2018’s “Bumblebee” because ROTB has heart and the human characters are more sympathetic. Mirage will emerge as a fan favorite. pic.twitter.com/8gZEA7dMDW

Totally in love with #Transformers #RiseOfTheBeasts. There are a few problems in the middle, but it starts off strong, has awesome 90’s hip-hop, makes great use of the people and the third act is a banger. Also, I almost jumped out of my seat at the end. At the top with the 1st Bay & Bumblebee. pic.twitter.com/Hf1yPqGXWE

#Transformers #RiseOfTheBeasts took everything that worked from “Bumblebee” and made it stronger! Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback gave great performances and Pete Davidson’s Mirage stole every scene he had. As a fan of the cartoon and the franchise, I really enjoyed this movie! pic.twitter.com/OdziQziKA9

#Transformers: Rise of the Beasts plays like the ultimate Saturday morning cartoon.

Great Transformers action. Anthony Ramos and Pete Davidson are great, although the dialogue is a bit clunky at times. It’s a sleek, entertaining film and a promising prelude to something exciting. pic.twitter.com/8Z75rnlgjS
