To keep the internet resilient and resilient, we need more research and collaboration on the security issues it faces.
The Network and Distributed System Security (NDSS) Symposium is an annual event focused on the latest developments and research in network and distributed systems security. The Internet Society has been the proud host of the NDSS Symposium since 1997.
As a think tank, the NDSS Symposium brings together leading academics, industry researchers, students and security practitioners to discuss world-class, peer-reviewed research and exchange ideas. Each event includes research paper presentations, poster sessions, multiple concurrent workshops and keynote presentations from leading companies in the systems security space. In its 30th year, the symposium has grown into one of the world’s leading security conferences, attracting attendees from around the world.
The NDSS Symposium, originally called the Workshop on Network and Distributed System Security, was first held on February 11-12, 1993 in San Diego, California. It was organized as a workshop by the Internet Research Task Force’s Privacy and Security Research Group and hosted by the Internet Society and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Since then, the Internet Society has been the proud host of the NDSS Symposium.
NDSS Symposium 2023
The NDSS Symposium 2023 will take place February 27 – March 3, 2023 in San Diego, California. This year we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the symposium.
Strengthening the Internet
By sharing leading research on system security, the NDSS Symposium helps the Internet community to make the Internet safer:
Potential new security attacks and vulnerabilities can be identified, mitigated and shared in an open and accessible manner. New security technologies can be developed, released and possibly standardized in an open and accessible way. The next generation of cybersecurity researchers and practitioners can start their careers with a strong network of collaborators. Academic, industry, and standards communities can better understand the emerging security issues and solutions, and are better positioned to work together to solve them. Join us
Make the most of open access for research
Any research accepted by the NDSS Symposium will be made available to everyone, everywhere, along with slides and videos of presentations. This open approach strengthens collaborative research and is one of the best features of the symposium.
Stand the test of time
Each year, the Test of Time Award honors contributions to the NDSS Symposium that were published more than a decade ago and have had a significant impact on academia and industry. Honoring these papers highlights the important fundamental research explored during the NDSS Symposium.
