Readers may recall that on December 24, Tunisha Sharma committed suicide on the sets of her ongoing show, Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul. After the incident, her former boyfriend and co-star Sheezan Khan was arrested on charges of assisting suicide. The bail hearing took place in the Vasai Court on Monday, where attorney Shailendra Mishra argued on Khan’s behalf, claiming Tunisha was speaking to a man named Ali, whom she met on Tinder. In addition, his argument also included that Sheezan was arrested because of his religion.

Shailendra Mishra reportedly revealed in his defense argument that the latter joined Tinder after Sheezan Khan and Tunisha Sharma split and was in touch with a man she was dating, named Ali. In the same argument, he added that she spoke to Ali on a video call in the last 15 minutes before her suicide. Meanwhile, when Mishra came to her suicide, she has claimed that Tunisha already confided in her suicide plan to a co-actor named Parth and even showed him the rope. In a statement, Sheezan Khan claimed he overheard the conversation and even contacted her family about it. In fact, Khan has also revealed that the late actress took some “dangerous” drugs without a valid prescription.
The defender also addressed other rumors that were doing the rounds, including a viral photo of Tunisha Sharma in a hijab. According to his testimony, he claimed that the actress was seen wearing the traditional garment in a scene on the Ali Baba Dastaan-E-Kabul show and not in real life. He also referenced the rumor that Sheezan forced Tunisha to learn Urdu, arguing that neither Khan nor his family understand the language.
Meanwhile, Mishra also presented what Khan had to say on the case. According to Sheezan Khan, he had claimed that his arrest was based on his religion. He spoke about how the “love-jihad” angle played a central role and that two days of questioning was more than enough to unearth the truth. He also claimed that there was no evidence against him for his arrest, but the criminal case continued.
Mishra has argued in his argument that the reason for Khan’s request was his autistic brother who needed Sheezan. He also referenced how Sooraj Pancholi received bail during Jiah Khan’s suicide case. The court has yet to reach a decision and the next hearing is scheduled for January 11.
