“Confession” is a story that follows a murder suspect and his attorney as they uncover the truth behind the murder. So Ji Sub plays Yoo Min Ho, the president of a promising IT company who is the prime suspect in a murder case. Kim Yoon Jin plays Yoo Min Ho’s lawyer, Yang Shin Ae, who digs for the truth to retain her title as a lawyer with a 100 percent success rate. Nana takes on the role of Kim Se Hee, the person who holds the key to truth.
Read on for three reasons why you should watch the film:
1. A case reconstructed based on the sharp dialogue between suspect and lawyer
The main pillar of the film is the conversation between Yoo Min Ho, who claims his innocence, and Yang Shin Ae, a lawyer, who uses his testimony to reconstruct the case. Yoo Min Ho reveals everything to rid himself of the false accusation, and Yang Shin Ae reconstructs the case, filling in the blanks in his testimony, creating suspense in the story. Despite all the evidence pointing to him as the culprit, Yoo Min Ho tries to take the lead in the situation and Yang Shin Ae uses his psychology to create a perfect scenario to prove Yoo Min Ho’s innocence and uncover the hidden truth. The tense psychological warfare and suffocating dialogue between the two are the film’s lynchpins, and each time attorney Yang Shin Ae reconstructs the case, the audience faces a major turning point in the film.
2. Outstanding performances by the star-studded cast
Thus, Ji Sub, Kim Yoon Jin, Nana and Choi Kwang Il, who together form the perfect ensemble, will show extraordinary acting synergy. This is how Ji Sub, who has taken on the challenge of a suspense thriller film for the first time, breathes life into the character Yoo Min Ho as he desperately works to clear himself of a murder charge and backtrack on the case. From emotional swings to the movement of his eyes, So Ji Sub has portrayed his character meticulously and in great detail.
The queen of thrillers, Kim Yoon Jin, showcases her acting skills in her portrayal of Yang Shin Ae, a level-headed and competent attorney. Kim Yoon Jin perfectly designed everything about her character before filming, including her emotions, the direction of her gaze, and facial expressions that vary depending on the situation, giving the audience a strong sense of immersion throughout.
Nana, who is building a solid acting background and filmography, plays Kim Se Hee, who holds the key to Yoo Min Ho’s case. Nana will show her acting skills and new sides of herself through Kim Se Hee, who shows different faces and personalities in response to Yoo Min Ho’s statements.
Last but not least, Choi Kwang Il, who has a strong presence across genres, plays Han Young Seok, who digs up another case. Choi Kwang Il, who is completely immersed in his character, will bring intense excitement to the audience.
3. A well-crafted thriller that alternates between thrills and twists and turns
Confession is a well-crafted suspense thriller from Realize Pictures Co., Ltd., which has spawned projects that have grossed more than 10 million admissions, including Masquerade and the Along with the Gods series, and an experienced production team the delicate and meticulous storyteller and director Yoon Jong Seok.
Because the story unfolds in a limited space and set, the production team conducted individual and group readings over 10 times to capture the actors’ movements, facial expressions, gestures, and vocal tones, and the team actively reflected these aspects in the scenario and storyline from the pre-production phase. In order to capture the cold in the winter air, they also put their heart and soul into selecting suitable film locations. To get rid of the warm feel of hardwood furniture, the art team even used shades of gray woods and cold-colored props to decorate the rooms.
The film method gives the audience the feeling of watching up close, while the lighting maximizes the unexpected turn of events and emotions by matching the hue to the speaker’s gaze. Confession, which required a great deal of thought and effort, will create deeper immersion with intense and realistic staging and a well-crafted production.
Confession hits theaters on October 26th. Check out the teaser here!
