In a proud moment for Indians at the 95th Annual Academy Awards, the RRR song “Naatu Naatu” won the Oscar for Best Original Song. Composed by MM Keeravani, with lyrics by Chandrabose and vocals by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, the song became very popular shortly after its release in March 2022.

In a night to remember, Naatu Naatu’s performance was introduced on stage by Deepika Padukone and received a standing ovation from the audience at the ceremony.

Keeravaani and Chandrabose accepted the trophy and the composer sang a song dedicating his award to India. In his acceptance speech, Keeravani sang a self-composed song in honor of RRR director Rajamouli and the entire Indian nation. Padukone called the song a “banger” and the performance that followed got the audience on their feet.
