value of Evolv Express® for effective weapon detection, artificial intelligence and intelligence is driving growing demand from school districts across the country
WALTHAM, Mass., October 27, 2022–(BUSINESS WIRE)–With the academic year now in full swing, another district has turned to Evolv Technology (NASDAQ: EVLV) to help create a safer learning environment for its community. As the leading provider of AI-based security controls for gun detection, Evolv Technology’s sensor-based kiosks and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions are now proactively identifying guns and weapons across Spartanburg School District Five in a frictionless manner without creating an uncomfortable environment for students and staff.
By applying patented technology and completely redefining the security screening process, students can walk through Evolv Technology’s kiosks without having to always have their bags removed or searched, and can start their day without the feeling of discomfort that traditional metal detectors can create. Evolv Express technology focuses on identifying weapons, so personnel only stop to review items that could pose a potential threat.
“School safety will always be a top priority, but recently the stakes have been even higher as gun violence continues to rise,” said Ryan Cothran, director of safety and emergency services for Spartanburg District Five Schools. “We employ a variety of safety protocols to create a safe and comfortable learning environment, and now with Evolv technology we have greater confidence that our students can be successful when they know the right systems are in place.”
Earlier this year, School District Six of Spartanburg, South Carolina County, evaluated a new security system. They wanted it to support continuous foot traffic for more than 12,000 students and staff across three main campuses and a nearby technology center. Evolv technology enabled District Six to meet its increased safety goals, which led to its expansion into District Five to support an additional 10,000 students.
“We have seen strong demand for Evolv Express from school districts across the country,” said Peter George, CEO of Evolv Technology. “In every conversation, schools demand that technology be able to accurately identify guns and reaffirm the school’s zero-tolerance policy on guns without making students uncomfortable. We designed Evolv Express with this in mind and continue to improve the system, knowing that it will be installed in environments critical to the education and well-being of the next generation.”
