If a user is having trouble with Move to iOS not working properly, hopefully there is an easy fix. While the app itself is pretty basic, there can be a few reasons why it’s not working properly. Typically, the most common issues seem to be connectivity and compatibility issues. With that in mind, let’s look at some reasons why Move to iOS might not work, as well as some ways to get it working again.
For those who are new to the iPhone scene, Move to iOS is an Android app from Apple that helps users make the switch from Android to iPhone. It can be extremely helpful in transferring messages, photos and videos, emails, bookmarks, calendar events and contacts. To make the switching process easier, the app may still have small issues. let’s explore
What to check before using Move to iOS
When it comes to using Move to iOS, there are some conditions that are required on both Android and iPhone devices. Before proceeding, ensure the following:
Make sure the Android device is running Android 4.0 or later and the iPhone is running iOS 9 or later. Make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network. Check if the iPhone has enough storage space to transfer the files. Make sure both are not underpowered. Both devices should be sufficiently charged. Don’t let anything interrupt the transfer process. For example, if you receive a call while Move to iOS is running, the call will interrupt that process. How do I use Move to iOS? With these ideas, you can now use Move to iOS. Follow the steps below to start moving your files from your Android device to an iPhone.
Time needed: 5 minutes.
How to use Move to iOS.
You must first download Move to iOS on your Android device from the Google Play Store.
Open the app to start the process. Move to iOS also helps you to connect both devices.
Then select the transfer option in the Move to iOS app on your iPhone. You will receive a generated code that is either six or ten digits long. This is a secure code. Enter the code on your Android device. Your iPhone will then create a temporary and private Wi-Fi network and then connect to your Android device. You will then see a screen with the transfer details.
Choose what you want to move and let the transfer begin. Remember that you should keep both devices side by side during this process.
Why doesn’t the switch to iOS work?
While this may sound like a simple process, there may be hiccups along the way that can cause an error. It’s probably the connection. If the connection is lost during any part of the transfer process, the entire system will break.
Of course, there are a few different ways a user can go about fixing this. Let’s take a look at some possible reasons why the transfer process might have gone wrong.
Wi-Fi connection is unstable: You need a strong, stable connection for the transfer process to work smoothly. Also remember that both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network. The devices are not compatible: Either the Android device is running slightly older than Android OS 4.0 or the iPhone is not using iOS 9 or higher. Insufficient Storage: If the iPhone has insufficient storage space, it cannot complete the transfer. Cached files: Cached files on both devices can cause the transfer process to fail. Smartphone network connection disruption: Android devices can disrupt a Wi-Fi connection, resulting in an error in Move to iOS. In newer versions of Android, e.g. B. Android OS 8.0, there is a connection optimization function, which can automatically switch the network connection to a cellular connection. The device determines this based on network speed and strength. Since Move to iOS works over a Wi-Fi network, this is likely to cause issues. You can turn off Connection Optimizer on your Android device by going to Settings > Connection > Mobile networks > Connection Optimizer and going to its setting and turning off cellular data. How to fix Move to iOS not working?
Now that you know some reasons why Move to iOS may not be working properly, let’s take a look at some ways to possibly fix the issue when the app is not working properly.
Check the network connections
Be sure to check the network on both devices and make sure they are both on the same network. The problem may be that the network connection is too slow for the devices to transfer files properly. From here you can also reboot your WiFi router to restart your connection. You can also pause all downloads.
Have both devices in airplane mode
Regarding the network connection, you can fully ensure that the process is not interrupted due to network issue by putting both devices in airplane mode. This ensures that no other network interrupts the Move to iOS process.
On Android: Pull down the notification bar and click Airplane mode. From iPhone: Depending on the version of iOS you’re using, swipe up or down from the top or bottom of the screen to bring up your control center. Click on the airplane icon to activate airplane mode.
Reboot both devices
You can also try restarting both devices. If you are sure that both devices are compatible and both have a stable and secure Wi-Fi connection, restarting both devices may be a sufficient solution to the problem. Restarting both devices will also delete all cached files in the systems. Additionally, restarting both devices will prevent them from using too much background RAM while also preventing background downloads.
On Android, simply press and hold the power button until you see the Restart option. For iPhone X and newer, restart the device by pressing and holding the side button along with one of the volume buttons. Then drag the Shut down slider to the right. Wait about 20 seconds before turning the device back on with the side button. If you’re using an iPhone 8 or earlier, just press the side button or the top button. Slide the Shut down slider to the right. Then wait about 20 seconds before turning it back on with the same button. Check device compatibility
Another thing a user can try is to check device compatibility. If Move to iOS isn’t working properly, the problem might be that one or both of the devices aren’t supported. If you get a message that the app won’t connect, it’s most likely a compatibility issue.
On Android, go to Settings > About phone to make sure it’s using Android 4.0 or later. You can also click System updates to see if an update is available for you. On iPhone, navigate to Settings > General > About. Under iOS version you can see which version of iOS you are using. You can also go to Settings > General > Software update to check for an update.
Check iPhone storage
Users may also want to check their iPhone storage to see if it has enough space for the transfer. Just go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage to check the available storage space on your device.
Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage to check your storage space. Additional ideas
If none of these work for you, you should contact either Apple or your carrier for assistance. Both should be able to help you with the process.
Of course, if you just want to transfer contacts from one device to another, I’ve also written a guide that can give some tips outside of using Move to iOS.
Get on your way
While using Move to iOS is meant to be a breeze, there can also be some fairly simple reasons why the process isn’t working properly. Most of the time it’s because a network connection is having problems or just isn’t strong enough to transfer the files properly.
Although it’s been a while since I personally switched from Android to iPhone, I can tell you that the process can be a bit of a headache. However, when I did that, I didn’t have the option to use Move to iOS. Fortunately, you only have to do it once. If you’re anything like me, the iPhone will win you over and you’ll stick with Apple forever. In the meantime, if you’re having trouble with Move to iOS not working, try some of these solutions before contacting additional support.
