Finding great wallpapers and backgrounds for your Android device is not that difficult. There are a lot of apps out there that can do this job. Additionally, a simple Google image search can show you some unique options. There’s no real trick for this. There are good wallpapers everywhere on the internet. The hard part is finding them. Below we have a list of the best wallpaper apps for Android.
We also recommend checking Google search as you can find quite a bit with clever search. We would also like to give Zedge (Google Play) credit. The best wallpaper apps for Android Abstruct
Price: Free / $1.99
Abstruct is one of the newer wallpaper apps on the list. It’s by Hampus Olsson, the designer of all wallpapers on OnePlus phones. It features a variety of abstract wallpapers in a variety of colors. There are around 300 backgrounds in total, all of which are also available in 4K resolution. We expect more to hit the app over time. It’s also a great way to get all the OnePlus device wallpapers without buying one. The premium version costs $1.99.

Backdrops is a pretty good wallpaper app. It includes a set of original wallpapers created by the Backdrops team. Most of them are abstract in some way, but you can find some landscapes, dark wallpapers and colorful wallpapers. The interface is fairly easy to use, although you’ll need to download a wallpaper to preview the whole thing, and you’ll need to do that in another app. The free version lets you set wallpapers, but you’ll need the pro version to download anything that lasts forever. There are good features, good wallpapers and we’re glad it’s not a subscription.

Reddit is one of the surprisingly good wallpaper apps. There are subreddits with tons of decent wallpapers in multiple resolutions. The site also offers a search for faster and easier results. Most Reddit users put the images on Imgur. This also makes Imgur a decent wallpaper app. It can take a bit to find the good stuff. However, there is a lot of great stuff here.
Additionally, basic Reddit accounts are free. With Reddit Gold, you can get additional features. We recommend r/ultrahdwallpapers, r/wallpapers+wallpapers, r/wallpaper and r/WQHD_Wallpaper for some excellent stuff. In addition, this is a great option for devices with certain screen styles, such as B. Samsung’s Punch Hole.
STOKiE is a different kind of wallpaper app. It includes default wallpapers from a range of devices. There are over 10,000 in total and you can find wallpapers from every OEM, from Alcatel to ZTE. Also, OEMs usually only use the highest quality wallpapers to keep their phones looking good. The app is completely free, which is surprising given the large number of wallpapers. Wallpaper is one of the more unique wallpaper apps. It doesn’t come with a selection to choose from. Instead, you choose the design and colors. The app makes the wallpaper of your selection. This is a great way to get some good, minimalist wallpapers in the colors you want. In addition, it offers Muzei support, a download function and more. The app uses your device’s screen resolution for quality settings. It helps take the guesswork out. In any case, this one is really good.
Vectorize the home

Vectorify da home is another unique wallpaper app. It uses vector graphics for clean, colorful wallpapers. Basically, you choose a style, choose the color scheme, and the app generates a wallpaper. The wallpapers are high definition and there are some fun little themes. The process is simple too, and there’s a bit of customization involved as well. Additionally, the app itself has a light and dark mode for your viewing pleasure. It’s totally free and easily one of the best wallpaper apps.

Wallpapers by Google is a decent wallpaper app. It has a small but fine selection of wallpapers. The app has other features including separate wallpapers for the lock screen and home screen, an auto-set feature for new wallpapers every day, and much more. The app has a few bugs. Also, his collection isn’t that big. It does have some really high quality stuff though. It’s also completely free, with no ads or in-app purchases.

Walli is another excellent wallpaper app. It has an array of unique works by a variety of independent artists. You can find all sorts of stuff here. Popular content includes word backgrounds, abstract content, fantasy themes, and people. The app includes a simple layout, categories for easy browsing, and more. It’s also a good place for artists to advertise their wares. Here you will find a lot of really unique stuff that you just can’t find in other places. You can also pay for stuff to support the artists.
WalP

WalP is a fun wallpaper app. It includes a variety of wallpapers from a range of OEMs. It has collections from Samsung, Sony, Stock Android, OPPO, and about two dozen other brands. You just open the app, browse through and find the wallpaper you want. The app itself has a light and dark theme for your display settings, along with a blur filter, saturation filter, push notifications for new wallpapers, and an auto-switcher if you want something different every day. It seems to hit all the right notes and performed well in our testing.
Walpy
Price: Free / $1.99
Walpy is another newer wallpaper app on this list. It has a lot of excellent wallpapers in pretty high resolution. However, this app also changes your wallpaper at different times of the day. It doesn’t rely on timers like most. Instead, it waits until the phone is charging or connected via Wi-Fi to change your background. There is a lot of variety. However, Walpy is primarily photography, so you won’t find any abstract stuff or anything like that here. It’s a neat solution with some decent choices.

WallPix is a wallpaper app developer with a few different wallpaper apps. The apps are for specific devices and take things like the pinhole cutout into account. One is for the S20 line of devices, another for the Note 20 line of devices, and one for the OnePlus 8. The wallpaper selection is okay, but the vast majority of wallpapers use the phone’s punch-hole camera as a decoration, or cleverly hide it to make it look better is not easily visible. The choice isn’t huge, but some of the wallpapers are quite nice.
We’ve linked to the developer’s page on Google Play so you can check them all out. There is a fourth app, MinimalPix, which includes minimal wallpapers with AMOLED-friendly choices. There are other apps that cover the hole or notch on other devices from other developers if you want to go down this route.
