The CatGPT chatbot is the meow machine you never knew you needed

Riding on the success of ChatGPT is CatGPT, a meow engine.

While it might not be omniscient, it definitely has a lot to say — or more accurately, meow.

When you’re on a trip and missing your feline friend at home, you know who to turn to.

Meet ChatGPT’s feline competitor, CatGPT. It might not be able to pass the bar exam or an AP biology test, but it sure has a lot to say.

CatGPT is designed to look identical to ChatGPT’s landing page and accepts all types of prompts.

But here are some suggested questions for the cat bot: “Explain how cats use quantum mechanics to hunt” and “Have any creative ideas for a cat’s 10th birthday party?”

Each response includes a GIF of cats being cats – losing their balance, drinking water from a faucet, asking for a tummy rub, and more.

Then comes a long stream of “meows,” sometimes far more than the prompts warrant. For example, insiders asked CatGPT what the largest state in the US is. A simple “meow” would have sufficed.

Instead, the response was, “Meow, meow, meow, meow – meow, meow!” Meow meow – meow meow meow. Meow, meow, meow, meow, meow – meow, meow? Meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow – meow, meow, meow, meow. Meow, meow, meow, meow, meow – meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow.”

The software says some of its abilities include “remembering where the user buried all the goodies”. It also acknowledges that there are some limitations such as “occasionally produce hairballs”.

The meow-heavy chatbot is also going viral on Tiktok. Tiktok user “lonebody” posted a video saying he accidentally typed “CatGPT” instead of “ChatGPT” and was surprised it actually existed.

As of press time, the Tiktok video has been viewed over 2.7 million times and liked more than 422,000 times.

There are other iterations of CatGPT, though not as meow-heavy as the one cited above., created by independent data journalist Wouter van Dijke, also responds to basic prompts with multiple meows. And, another chatbot, offers a very different kind of answer.

The story goes on

“Prrrr… Meow! I’m a furry cat who purrs and enjoys the luxuries of life,” the chatbot said in response to Insider’s “hello.”

“How lucky I am to have a warm bed, delicious treats, and endless cuddles from my human. Ah, life is beautiful when you’re a spoiled kitten,” added

OpenAI representatives did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
