WASHINGTON — In the six months since the racially charged tweets of a self-proclaimed “woke” Pentagon school administrator drew national attention and GOP criticism, the number of her far-left children’s books has surged onto the shelves of her elementary, middle and high school subordinates High schools have increased tenfold.
Kelisa Wing, chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer for the Department of Defense Education Activity, made headlines in September when Twitter posts made derogatory comments about white people resurfaced.
“I’m so exhausted from those white folx in these [professional development] sessions, this lady actually had the CAUdacity to say that black people can be racist too,” Wing wrote in a June 2020 post, using a portmanteau for “Caucasian boldness.”
At the time, Wing co-authored about 45 copies of books – including titles such as What is White Privilege? and What Does It Mean to Defund the Police? — were available at 11 DOD school libraries, according to a Substack report by OpenTheBooks, a right-wing nonprofit that tracks government spending.
As of Friday, that number had grown to more than 600 books in 49 DOD schools from Quantico, Virginia to Yokosuka, Japan, according to online library databases and the report — an increase of nearly 1,250% since her Twitter scandal broke.

As Wing’s books circulated in schools, the Pentagon’s Office of the Undersecretary of Personnel and Readiness conducted an investigation into her divisive social media presence.
“The far-left Kelisa Wing is under investigation for her racist and divisive remarks, but Biden’s Department of Defense allows her to continue to infiltrate the classrooms and minds of our service members’ children,” Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) told the Post.
“Our service members deserve transparency about what their children are learning and no more deadlocks from the Biden administration.”
Originally scheduled for 30 days, the Department of Defense has remained silent on whether the review is even complete.
GOP lawmakers who requested their findings in November and again in January have received no response, according to Stefanik.
“The Biden administration can no longer hide from parents that they are pushing their radical agenda onto our military members’ children, and it is high time for the Department of Defense to publicize the results of Kelisa Wing’s divisive and radical ideology that she is forcing on us DoDEA schools,” she said.
The Pentagon did not respond to questions from The Post on Friday about whether the review was over or whether Wing would remain employed in her position.
Her name does not appear on DODEA’s DEI website, but the Air Force Times reported that she still held the position when she granted the outlet an interview published Feb. 10.
Wing was hired in 2021 after Biden issued an executive order forcing all federal agencies to form teams focused on “justice,” which differs from “equality” in that it serves historically disadvantaged groups rather than all Giving people the same chance of success.

The executive order was opposed by many Republican lawmakers, including Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-Wis.), who told the Post that the use of Wings’ books in DODEA libraries “is just the latest example of this.” [the] Division,” seeded under Biden’s equity push.
“Since day one, the Biden administration has tried under the guise of ‘justice’ to racially divide Americans,” Tiffany said.
“Whether it’s federal agencies or state-funded entities, we must root out racial discrimination in our federal government.”
Wing’s books appear primarily in elementary and junior high schools, although her book, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, can be found, for example, at Gymnasium Kaiserslautern in Germany.
Her more politically charged titles, like What is the Black Lives Matter Movement? and Racial Justice in America: Topics for Change, appear in schools that cater to younger grades, according to library databases.
Others found in DODEA middle schools are “Jim Crow and Policing”; “What is anti-racism?”; “How Can I Be an Ally?” and “Tulle Riots and the Red Summer of 1919.”
Stefanik, who last year introduced a Service Member Parents Bill of Rights bill to guarantee DODEA parents can see the school curriculum and the list of books included in its libraries, denounced Wings’ “radical teachings.”
“I will continue to support … military families and hold the Biden administration accountable for prioritizing the strength of our national defenses rather than forcing their woke ideologies on our nation’s military,” she told the Post.
