Once approved, users can enable the Mute Unknown Callers feature by going to the app settings. Once activated, all calls from unknown numbers will be muted. However, users will still be notified of the calls in the notification bar. This way, one doesn’t have to mute all notifications or calls on WhatsApp to avoid spam calls.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp is also working on another feature that will allow users to share the screen of their WhatsApp app. With the new split screen mode, users can view two windows at the same time i.e. chat list, chat window, calls or status tabs. This allows users to see and use two different sections of WhatsApp at the same time.
A report by WABetaInfo cites that the messaging app is developing the new split window feature for its tablet version. The feature is currently available for testing in the Android beta version for tablets and will soon be rolled out to everyone. The report further suggests that the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.5.9 contains a reference to WhatsApp’s new split interface.
Upon release, WhatsApp’s new streamlined user interface allows users to multitask within the app using a large display of tabs. Users can switch between conversations by following them simultaneously in split view. Additionally, the new Split feature allows users to manage and organize chats and take action on status or calls without closing the current chat window.
Apart from that, WhatsApp is also working on a number of other features to improve user interface and privacy on the platform. One of the brewing developments includes a feature that will allow users to edit any WhatsApp message they send. Currently in development for iOS users. The new edit message feature allows users to edit any sent message within 15 minutes of the timeframe expiring.
This allows users to edit any error in the message or add more information to the original message without deleting the entire message and save time rewriting. The feature is currently under development but is expected to be released to WhatsApp iOS beta users soon.
