(CNN) For those who’ve ever felt the urge to conjure a Tik Tok video out of their car, Mercedes-Benz owners can do so from inside the 2024 E-Class without even having to get out their phones .
This means dance moves with both hands are possible as long as the car is parked.
In keeping with the brand image, Mercedes drivers will in future also be able to take part in important business video meetings without having to open a laptop. You can also throw Angry Birds when things get boring.
In-car software allows for the installation of apps like Zoom, Webex, and TikTok without going through an in-car intermediary like Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, although those options will likely continue to be available. The small camera, built into the top of the dash and facing the occupants, can also be used for general selfie shots. However, according to Mercedes-Benz, video conferences, photography and filming of TikTok videos will only be possible when the vehicle is stationary.
A web browser is also available for download. While some car models already on the market, including Teslas and some other Mercedes models, have built-in web browsers, this will be available for the person in the passenger seat as an option with their own dedicated touchscreen.
Tesla also recently announced that its vehicles will have Zoom conferencing capabilities.
Like some of Mercedes’ electric models, like the new EQE, the E-Class will be available with an all-glass dashboard that includes a passenger touchscreen, along with technologies that Mercedes says are designed to reduce potential driver distractions. A camera detects how often and how long the driver looks in the direction of the screen and dims the passenger screen if necessary. Meanwhile, passengers can watch videos, stream music and surf the Internet while driving.
Angry Birds will be one of the applications available in the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
The new E-Class will also have artificial intelligence features, according to Mercedes, which will allow the car to “learn” the driver’s preferences for things like climate control, interior light colors and sun protection deployment at different times of the day and weather conditions. Owners can also set up their own “routines” for certain situations, such as changing the interior lights to a warm color, opening the sun visor in the roof and turning on the heated seats when the temperature is below a set limit. It’s a more complex set of responses than the typical automatic thermostat setting that many cars have.
These features will be part of the new 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, a redesigned model that will be fully unveiled later this year. The E-Class is Mercedes’ mid-range model, larger than the entry-level A-Class and the more compact C-Class, but smaller and more affordable than the ultra-luxurious S-Class.
Mercedes has yet to announce pricing for this new version, but prices for the 2023 E-Class start at around $56,000.
