Nothing has finally rolled out its long-awaited software update as its phone steps into the latest world of Android.
Nothing OS 1.5, based on Android 13, has begun rolling out as a stable live build for users, with patch notes detailed in a thread on Reddit. The beta for the 1.5 update started back in December, with an expected release for Q1 2023. The 157MB patch is the “Most Significant Update” for Nothing OS and comes with software version 1.5.2.
Some of the more compelling improvements in this Android 13 update revolve around the increased performance of the Nothing Phone (1). Device fingerprint unlock accuracy has improved by approximately 12% and app launch speed has increased by approximately 71%. The user experience has also been revamped with this software update. Phone owners (1) can now easily switch data usage when using dual SIM. There’s now a quick button to bring up the camera’s QR scanner in quick settings and an option to set language preferences per app, one of the features introduced in Android 13.
Nothing has done some work with some UI changes for the phone (1), introducing a refined camera interface and a new look for media controls. The 1.5 update shows album art when using media controls, which is most likely a version that Pixel devices mixed with Nothing OS’s unique UI.
In terms of overall phone customization, Nothing has introduced a new Glyph sound pack with more ringtones and notification options. Users can now take advantage of lock screen customization options and add shortcut icons for camera, flashlight, device controls, and wallet.
To keep Phone(1) users safe, Nothing has included a new personal security app, better privacy when using photo pickers, permissions for nearby Wi-Fi devices, and specific media permissions.
While Nothing Phone (1) owners should get the 1.5 (Android 13) update automatically, you can also check manually. Just go to your Settings > System > System update and see if you can start downloading and installing.
The Nothing Phone (1) will set you apart from everyone else as a person who enjoys innovation and risk above the ‘norm’. With Android 13 now rolling through, the phone offers (1) bright customization options through its rear glyph lighting, improved security, and faster performance.
