The US Embassy in Dhaka has announced a call for the 2023-2024 Fulbright Distinguished Award in the International Teachers’ Teaching Program (Fulbright DAI).
This U.S. Department of State exchange program provides scholarships for elementary and secondary school teachers in Bangladesh to participate in a semester-long, non-degree, non-credit professional exchange program with other educators from around the world.
Participants will have a unique opportunity to develop expertise in their fields, improve their teaching skills, and expand their knowledge of the United States, according to a press release.
Inquiry project: During their studies at a US university, each participant works on an individual or group project on a topic of their choice.
University Courses: Participants can choose to take a range of academic courses that match their professional development goals. The host university will offer courses on a wide range of subjects including, but not limited to, curriculum development, second language teaching, comparative pedagogy, educational leadership and teaching methods from which participants can choose.
Fulbright Seminar: Participants attend a seminar at their host university with discussions led by university staff, faculty members, and invited guests. The seminar topics will focus on reflecting on the field experience, designing the research projects, and examining trends and current issues in education, such as curriculum, teaching and learning, assessment, instructional technology, student-centred learning, and teacher leadership, among others, topics of interest to participants.
US School Internships: Participants are placed at an American elementary or high school to observe class, co-teach, and share their expertise and information about their home country with their host institution.
Professional Online Learning Community: Each participant gains access to a virtual community of practice where they can collaborate and exchange ideas with like-minded education professionals working in different countries around the world.
Be a Bangladeshi citizen currently residing in Bangladesh; Be a full-time primary or secondary school teacher of English, English as a Foreign Language (EFL), math, civics, science or social studies; At least five years of professional experience in full-time teaching at the start of the course; Excellent spoken and written English skills to be able to take courses at postgraduate level; Familiar with using Microsoft Office Suite platforms such as Microsoft Word and Excel; and Submit a complete application in accordance with the program policies.
