Facebook took a page from TikTok’s book and integrated reels into mobile apps and its web interface. It offers a nice way to create short videos and share them with friends and followers. You can check shared reels in your main Facebook feed or go to the reels menu to take a look at the reels that are trending. But sometimes Facebook fails to load roles. Here are the top ways to fix Facebook not showing roles on mobile.
Nowadays, people prefer roles over standard videos on Facebook. Reels lets you add music, effects and fun backgrounds with just a single tap. You can also check out other people’s creative short films on Facebook for inspiration.
1. Check the network connection
Let’s go through the basics first. You must first check the network connection on your phone. If there are problems with the internet connection, reset the network with the airplane mode trick.
If you have an Android phone, swipe down from the home screen and toggle Airplane mode on and off in the quick toggle menu. iPhone users can swipe down from the top-right corner to access Control Center and use Airplane mode.
If you’re still having network issues on your phone, reset network settings and try playing Reels on Facebook.
2. The person may have removed the scroll
Have you saved or liked certain reels on Facebook and can’t find the same ones in your account? The person may have removed roles from their account.
3. Restart Facebook
You can completely close and reopen Facebook on your phone to access Reels. You can swipe up on the home screen and hold to open the recent apps menu. Next, swipe up on the Facebook app card to close it.
4. Check Facebook status
If the Facebook servers are down, the app will not display any images, videos, or reels. You can visit Downdetector and search for Facebook to confirm the problem. If you notice high failure charts and user comments saying the same thing, it could be a server-side issue. You have to wait for Facebook to fix the problem with its servers.
5. Enable Cellular Data Permission (iPhone)
If you have disabled cellular data permission for Facebook on iPhone, the app will not show trending cellular data videos.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Scroll down and tap on Facebook.
Step 3: Turn on the mobile data switch.
6. Disable low data mode
Facebook offers a special option to optimize videos over a cellular connection. The social media giant claims to save up to 40% of data by reducing video quality. You must disable the option in Facebook settings.
Step 1: Open the Facebook app on your phone.
Step 2: Go to your profile from the top right corner.
Step 3: Expand Settings & Privacy.
Step 4: Open Cellular Data Usage (or Cellular Data Usage on iPhone).
Step 5: Check the box next to Optimize in the Video Quality menu.
You can restart the Facebook app and try loading Reels again.
7. Clear Facebook cache
Facebook collects cache on your phone to improve app load times and overall performance. Sometimes Facebook accumulates corrupted cache and fails to perform basic tasks like loading reels. You should clear Facebook cache with the following steps.
Step 1: Long press the Facebook app icon on your Android and tap the “i” icon to open the app info menu.
Step 2: From the App Info menu, choose Storage and Cache.
Step 3: Click on the “Clear Cache” button and try to load Reels in Facebook.
8. Reinstall Facebook
If none of the tricks work, it’s time to reinstall Facebook on your phone. You can open the Facebook app info menu (see above) and click Uninstall to delete the app.
iOS users can long press the Facebook app icon and select Remove App to complete the uninstall process.
Next, log in with your Facebook account details and try loading Reels without breaking a sweat.
9. Check Facebook Reels on desktop
Facebook roles are also available on desktop. If the mobile apps don’t show roles, use the web version on desktop.
Step 1: Go to Facebook website on desktop and log in with your Facebook account details.
Step 2: Click on the Reels tab and watch all the trending short videos.
Facebook Reels is a fun pastime
In most cases, patchy network connection can be the main reason for Facebook not showing roles on mobile. You can also search Facebook in your mobile browser and check the latest reels. Which trick worked for you? Share your findings in the comments below.
