Education is the most powerful weapon that expands our experience and changes our perception. Ensuring quality higher education is one of the most important ways to empower the future generation. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the traditional ways have become obsolete. Transformation activities with the continuous and relative changes are put into action to adapt to the situation.
There are new trends impacting business education in 2021-22. Today’s generation is highly tech-savvy, and with the emergence of new technologies, education at all levels is possible with mobile technology, cloud services and virtual reality, creating new opportunities for accessible, immersive learning. Online courses are the most popular way to experience higher education.
There are various new applications that offer e-learning and offer the opportunity to engage in leisure and interest-based learning. These apps have seen an estimated 43.5% increase. There are various micro courses that business schools partner with to educate their students with the best knowledge. Accessible on platforms such as NPTEL, Upgrade, Coursera, simplilearn, etc., these courses saw a 48.6% increase. Coursera saw learners grow from 45 million to 76 million.
Furthermore, through immersive learning technologies such as augmented reality, virtual reality and mixed reality, the absorption process and the short period of remembering problems can be addressed. E-learning increases learner retention rate from 25% to 60%. Thanks to the hybrid learning environment mode, virtual business school campuses have emerged where adaptive learning, artificial learning and automation are transforming the teaching-learning experience in classrooms.
To date, around 21% of universities have adopted the hybrid learning model. Using AI-powered personal assistants to monitor students’ concentration and gestures is a successful way to adapt to the situations in a VUCA world.
Climatic conditions with tremendous environmental instability in the form of unsafe diseases and extreme weather conditions have defined numerous limits and limitations. But digital technology is helping educators and learners push those boundaries. Leveraging innovative technologies, international immersive programs engage the best talent to unlock future career opportunities for students. It is estimated that the online learning market will grow to $50 billion by 2026.
Business school educators are mapping technological changes to help learners stay current with the latest trends such as analytics, adaptive learning, robotics, IoT, etc.
The focus is increasingly on building soft skills such as critical thinking, empathy, assertiveness and teamwork. Therefore, from the perspective of Industry 4.0 and the emerging Industry 5.0, the goal is to follow the latest trends to create a powerful human capital.
