The mother of the late actor Tunisha Sharma has countered the allegations made in defense of jailed actor Sheezan Khan, claiming that her daughter is not short of funds. Tunisha’s mother, Vanita Sharma, retaliated against allegations by Sheezan’s lawyer, who claimed at a recent press conference that her mother controls her finances. Sheezan’s family also accused Tunisha’s family of pushing her into depression.
Tunisha, 20, an aspiring actor, was reportedly found hanged in a TV series toilet Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul posted December 24th. After her death, Tunisha’s mother filed a case against Sheezan for assisting in suicide, which led to his arrest. He is currently being held at Thane Central Prison.
Tunisha’s mother responds to allegations by defendant Sheezan’s family
“I sent her Rs 3 lakh within three months. She was not short of funds and all her needs were met. She later borrowed money from friends. Maybe Sheezan did drugs and forced this habit on her. His car broke down and he used my car for a month,” Tunisha’s mother told ANI. She also said that she had a perfect relationship with Tunisha. “Sheezan’s mom can’t tell me anything about my relationship with her (Tunisha). I don’t have to explain it to anyone,” the victim’s mother said.
The actor’s mother said her daughter “was not short of funds and all her needs were met.” She further dismissed claims by Sheezan’s sister that she (Tunisha’s mother) along with her brother Sanjeev Kaushal were responsible for the victim’s trauma and ultimately her death. “Tunisha and Sanjeev Kaushal (an uncle in Chandigarh) had terrible relationships. Sanjeev Kaushal and her mother Vanita controlled Tunisha’s finances. Tunisha often asked her mother for her own money. Tunisha often panicked when she heard the name Sanjeev Kaushal,” Sheezan’s attorney said during a news conference.
“Tunisha’s so-called uncle Pawan Sharma was her former manager; he was released 4 years ago for often interfering and being rude to her,” the defendant’s attorney said. Sheezan’s family also addressed the allegations made by Tunisha’s family, calling them unfounded. “My brother had never used drugs. They had a very understanding relationship with each other. There was no point in using Love Jihad as Tunisha’s mother never wanted her to marry Sheezan,” Sheezan’s sister said.
In early January, Sheezan’s family also released an audio clip of an alleged conversation between the actor’s mother and Tunisha to show the bond between the two. The family made the move after Tunisha’s mother accused Sheezan’s family of getting too involved in their daughter’s life and distracting her from work. She also accused Sheezan of hurting and cheating on her daughter, forcing the victim to take an extreme step. She further said that Sheezan also hit Tunisha when she found out he was cheating on her.
