Over the weekend we sit at NextPit for several free or paid mobile apps and games that caught my eye on Google Play and Apple.
Every week I try to bring you the best apps that aren’t personal data traps or microtransaction nests. To my own results I added the apps featured by NextPit and shared on our forum. For example, I invite you to make recommendations.
From mobile games to productivity apps, here are NextPits 5 free and paid Android/iOS apps this week. We publish this selection every week, you can also check out my top 5 weekly applications.
Geekbench 6 (Android, iOS and more)
Yes, this is the best study to measure the performance of your smartphone. But still, many of us find out how to compare it. The new version 6 was released this week and includes the new updated tests, so unfortunately the results are not directly comparable to previous versions.
According to the developers, the new version comes with updated tests based on real-world usage, including background blurring for video chats, tagging images with machine learning algorithms, handling large images, browsing maps, etc.
This app is available for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and even Linux, but allows for complete separation of machine models. Unfortunately, it still lacks basic features like showing history of results, but the application isn’t simply useful.

A while back, Geekbench 6 looked almost identical to Geekbench 5, but it actually improved one important point.
tooot (Android and iOS)
Since Twitter’s prophetic collapse hasn’t happened (yet?), there seems to be no real competitor in short-text social media. Mastodon was an early competitor, but it appears to have lost momentum. If you still want to check toots instead of tweets, Toot app is the best solution.
The popular Mastodon app is rated in the top 5 by Mastodon. The approach is designed to meet user expectations.
It may not come as a surprise that Mastodon can threaten Twitter instantly, but you cannot communicate with the app or the platforms. And tooot is a free, open source, exciting and ad-free way to use Mastodon.
Price: Free / Promotion: No purchases from the store or you have other items.
Unlike many other clients, tooot has a simple but effective user interface.
Android Calculator (Android)
I have to admit that I’m always confused when I visit countries with a strong tipping culture. Even if you have lived in countries with bad idealism, I urgently need advice. Tip Calculator is a simple but elegant solution to this problem.
While most apps don’t share the same interface, the tip calculator doesn’t have many features. It is no different from its elaborate user interface. You need to be clear about the design, Material You guidelines, and adopting the system color scheme.
You can calculate the rate by hand and then calculate the percentage from the perspective of the corresponding rate. If you copy the equation to the clipboard or directly share it with your friends, they will like you.

crate (Android)
Are you overwhelmed by the notifications you send to your smartphone? Do you feel intimidated by Android’s notification settings? Try out the filters and take care of the tsunami of alerts pushed to your tablet and smartphone.
Even if you follow the zero icon policy in the notification bar, FilterBox can help. The app has a helpful history section that allows you to revert to dismissed notifications while accidentally dismissing the notification.
The Analytics tab is complete with charts showing the number of notifications per day, as well as a pie chart that filters the notifications. The most popular feature is to identify apps that unnecessarily clutter your smartphone. FilterBox is a free trial app that comes with a two-day option.

For those who appreciate design, the app will impress with its whimsical graphics.
Spirit Farer (Android etiOS)
Inspired by Camila’s ad hoc advice, my game recommendation is Spiritfarer. Unfortunately, this game is for Netflix subscribers, but it is available for iOS and Android. It was originally released on PC and consoles, but it’s a story-driven strategy game that uses slow-paced and highly predictable gameplay, suitable for smartphones and short games.
And without giving anything away, Spiritfarer puts you at the helm of a boat transporting spirits for the après-life. All you can do is try to get to know the characters on your journey, expand your ship to accommodate the passengers, and reject the world around you.
Spiritfaris is a simple playmaker without being able to react quickly. It contains no ads or in-app purchases, nor does it require any other accounts outside of the store or Netflix.
