We’ve worked hard on it over the past year improve our website and add new features that enhance and personalize the shopping experience on Walmart.com and in our app. Today we’re excited to announce even more improvements, just in time for the best time of the year.
Take time for the essentials
During the busy holiday season, we know that time is incredibly precious and want to simplify the shopping process as much as possible so our customers can spend their time where it really matters.
- We hold your place: Our virtual queue experience, developed by our Walmart Global Tech and eCommerce product teams, keeps customers’ spots in line for the most in-demand items Black Friday events as they continue to shop on our site for other gifts or weekly essentials, make sure they know when they will be in line, their estimated wait time and how long it will take to checkout to guarantee an item. We’ll even hold your spot in multiple queues at once if you want to purchase multiple different high-demand items.
- Skip checkout: Do you just need to buy a last-minute gift or quickly buy your favorite muesli? Customers can now select “Buy Now” on most items, allowing them to purchase items directly from the item pages for even faster and easier shopping.
- Do not miss: Customers can now see the most viewed and purchased items in their search results, helping them quickly find popular items or discover new favorites. On the item pages, they can even see how many people are viewing the item and how many people have the item in their carts – so they can be sure to buy it before the dreaded sale hits.

We know that our customers value value and that this is more important than ever during the holiday season. In a recent survey, 78% of shoppers said inflation will have some or major impact on their holiday shopping. And with customers shopping for the holidays earlier than ever this year, we’ve worked hard to ensure the site experience makes it easy for them to find great deals, whether they’re checking items off their holiday or shopping lists.
To make it easy for customers to see which items are on sale and how much the discounted price is, we mark savings with a green price tag throughout our website. And that is just the beginning! As we begin to showcase the amazing deals our customers can find at Walmart this holiday season, we will maximize customer exposure to these deals across multiple touchpoints in the customer journey from the home page to the order confirmation page.
Personalized experiences that help customers give with confidence
Finding the perfect gift can be stressful and we want to make sure customers can give with confidence. From introducing new technology that allows customers to view items virtually in their homes, to recommending the perfect top to pair with pants, we’re taking the guesswork out of gift-giving.
- Display a big screen on your small screen: We recently expanded our new augmented reality feature, View in Your Home, on over 200 TVs in our iOS app, as we know this is a very popular category for customers at this time of year. With this feature enhancement, customers can now virtually see how a TV will fit into their space before they buy, ensuring a foolproof holiday movie marathon.
- Complete the outfit: We recently announced a new online feature, powered by the visual outfitting and styling solution Stylitics, that suggests complementary clothing and accessories to help customers create a complete outfit. We’re excited to announce that Stylitics is now available in men’s, baby’s and kids’ clothing for select brands including No Boundaries, Free Assembly, Wonder Nation, Justice and more. Available for 8,000 items in seven categories and 16,000 outfit variations, we make it easy for our customers to discover new items and maybe a new personal style this season. We’ll soon be extending this feature to Home, too, so customers can shop Home with as much confidence as they do their closets!
