Users cannot share high-resolution images with their friends and family. According to an online report, the Meta-owned platform has now started rolling out the ability to broadcast images in HD resolution. The feature is currently in testing and available for
Android
And
iOS
Beta tester.
According to WABetaInfo, with this feature, WhatsApp makes it easier to share better quality photos by preserving their dimensions. To access the feature, Android users need to install update version 2.23.12.13 while iOS users need to update the app to version number iOS 23.11.0.76.
This feature allows you to select better quality images when sending photos. The option only appears when you select a large photo. “Note that this does not mean that you can send photos in their original quality, as this option preserves the image dimensions but still applies a slight amount of compression to the image. In addition, the default option for each photo is always “Standard Quality”. This “means you have to select the HD option every time you want to share a new photo with improved quality,” the report reads.
The report also mentions that if users send a photo with the “High Quality” option, it will be tagged as a high quality photo and the new tag will be added to the message bubble. The feature is currently limited to the images shared in individual conversations. Also, users are only allowed to send HD pictures and not HD resolution videos.
WhatsApp introduced the security center worldwide
WhatsApp has unveiled a Global Security Center tailored to its global user base, providing a comprehensive platform of valuable resources and insights into security measures and product features. The main goal of this initiative is to give users the opportunity to protect themselves from unwanted contacts and spam messages. The security center will be accessible in English as well as ten Indian languages including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu.
With the introduction of the security center, WhatsApp wants to give users knowledge about the various privacy settings in the app and thus give them better control over their accounts.
