As a Manhattan District Attorney’s investigation into a hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels gathers new momentum, Donald Trump may soon become the first sitting or former president in US history to be prosecuted.
Trump said on Truth Social on Saturday that he thinks he will be arrested on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Clark Brewster, Daniels’ attorney, tweeted that his client met with prosecutors at the request of the prosecutor’s office and that Daniels “has responded to questions and agreed to make himself available as a witness or for further investigation as needed.”

The tweet came about a week after prosecutors invited Trump to testify before a New York grand jury as part of their investigation. Michael Cohen, Trump’s former personal attorney, and at least seven other people were also being questioned before a grand jury during the inquest.
Who is Clark Brewster?
Daniels was initially represented by prominent attorney Michael Avenatti when she filed a lawsuit seeking to void a 2016 non-disclosure agreement regarding an alleged affair with Trump in 2006. The allegation she made was that she was paid by Trump’s attorney, Michael Cohen, not to disclose information covered by the NDA. However, Avenatti embezzled nearly $300,000 from Daniels. On June 2, 2022, Avenatti was sentenced to four years in prison for fraud on Daniels.

In early March 2019, Daniels ended her agreement with Avenatti and replaced him with attorney Clark Brewster. According to the Brewster and De Angelis law firm’s website, “Clark O. Brewster is an accomplished attorney and partner at Brewster & De Angelis in Oklahoma. During his illustrious career he has successfully handled numerous civil and criminal cases and has earned a reputation as one of the premier litigators in the region.”
It added: “Remarkably, he was one of the youngest attorneys ever to receive the prestigious Martindale-Hubbell A rating, the highest peer-reviewed rating offered by the organization. He is also listed in the Best Lawyers in America 2002 – 2003 Edition and has been recognized repeatedly for his dedication to his clients as well as his long-standing track record of delivering remarkable results for his clients.”

Brewster attended Central Michigan University. In 1977 he graduated with honors as a Bachelor of Science. In 1980 he earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Tulsa College of Law. He graduated from law school with honors as a member of the Order of the Curule Chair, the school’s highest academic distinction.
He is currently a member of several well-known and highly respected professional associations. These include the American Association for Justice and the Oklahoma Trial Lawyers Association. He was president there in 1998. He is also an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Tulsa Law School.
